Dual Degree

1. Overview

  • The Dual Degree Program awards a separate degree from GSP and from the overseas partner university to students who satisfy the degree requirements established by both institutions.
  • Students must fulfill both institutions’ curriculum and graduation requirements. The total time required to obtain the degrees may vary depending on academic progress and the relevant agreement.

2. Eligibility

  • Applicants must be expected to complete two semesters at GSP and at least half of the credits required for completion of coursework before departure .
  • Applicants must have a GPA of at least 3.5 as of the preceding semester.
  • Applicants must meet the partner university’s language requirements.
  • Applicants must have no disqualifying restrictions on overseas travel.
  • Where accepted or required by the partner university, the semester, credit, GPA, and language requirements may be adjusted in accordance with GSP regulations.

3. Study Period and Leave of Absence

  • The standard study period at the overseas university is two semesters, or one year.
  • An extension of up to one additional year may be approved by the Dean of GSP when necessary because of curriculum differences or language training.
  • During overseas study, students may take one semester of leave on one occasion, subject to approval by the Dean of GSP.
  • Leave taken at the overseas university counts toward the student’s leave period at Kyung Hee University.

4. Registration and Scholarships

  • Students must complete the prescribed registration procedures at both institutions each semester.
  • GSP may provide scholarships during overseas study, based on the scholarship category determined by GSP in the semester immediately preceding departure.
  • Dormitory subsidies are excluded from these scholarships.
  • If overseas credits remain unconfirmed and the student exceeds GSP’s prescribed study period, tuition may be waived according to the applicable scholarship category during the graduation deferral period, provided the student remains in the Dual Degree Program.

5. Credit Recognition

  • Recognition of overseas credits requires review by the department head and approval by the Dean of GSP .
  • The department head determines course classifications.
  • Credit values are converted with reference to GSP’s weekly instructional hours.
  • Grades are recorded as Pass (P) or Fail (N).
  • The maximum number of overseas credits recognized is one-half of the credits required for graduation.

6. Degree Award and Important Notes

  • Students receive both degrees only after satisfying the graduation requirements of both institutions.
  • If a student does not obtain the overseas university’s degree, academic and administrative matters will be handled under exchange-student status.
  • Students must comply with the rules and regulations of both institutions.
  • Matters not covered by GSP or Kyung Hee University regulations are determined through consultation with the partner university.

7. Application and Selection

  • Selection schedules and procedures are announced separately.
  • Applicants must submit the documents designated by the GSP administration office by the specified deadline.
